A rare Rainbow documentary, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow 1976 - Live Rainbow Rising", has surfaced on YouTube detailing the band from 1975 -1978, featuring the legendary Ritchie Blackmore, late singer Ronnie James Dio and late drummer Cozy Powell. Check out the 11-minute clip below:

  1. Great footage, Stargazer, Light In The Black. A proper dvd with this stuff should be realesed at some point in the future.

  4. Excellent photograph of the band well in full tilt here - the Rainbow light show high overhead and along with the Rising logo set deep in the background must have been a spectacular visual effect.

  5. Whoever is responsible for preventing the release of the full footage of this concert tour should hang their head in shame. Just like the Deep Purple concert footage from the Made in Japan tour, some idiot or idiots think its not worth the effort. Unfortunately it is too late for some as they have literally died waiting in vain. Whether its band members, management, record execs whoever. You are complete and utter wankers if responsible.

  6. Anonymous have you considered that maybe this all the footage left?p from the original footage?
Much like Donington 1980 Monster of Rock Festival.
The original footage has has been lost, and the highlights are all that is left.
Sadly this happens all too often.

  7. I first saw this on Aus television in '76. The laid back performance Blackmore is talking about was Perth Western Australia, The concert I saw. Sadly the venue was only half full and I suspect that was a major factor in no encore.
