Yesterday (March 2), it was widely reported that Rob Zombie would be directing the film version of Motley Crue’s notorious memoir, "The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band". Zombie now says those reports are untrue. “No, I’m not doing the Motley Crue movie,” Zombie told Undercover.fm, in a video interview set to be published next week. “I don’t know where that [rumor] came from.”
The misinformation apparently originated in an interview with Crue’s Tommy Lee, published yesterday on Billboard.com. Lee hinted that newly-written Motley Crue material might be incorporated into the bio-pic, which, Billboard stated, is “on track with Rob Zombie as its director.” Zombie, of course, has extensive movie-making experience, having directed such splatter films as "House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects" and the forthcoming "The Lords of Salem". Zombie is currently on tour in Australia, as part of the Soundwave Festival. (Gibson)
