Deep Purple are currently on the road on "The Songs That Built Rock" tour featuring orchestral versions of the band's classics. Singer Ian Gillan talks about the tour and says it's still a rock show.
Fans can expect to hear the band’s trail-blazing iconic hits - including "Smoke On The Water", "Highway Star", "Hush" and "Space Truckin’" - plus other favorites achieve a new dimension of sound with the added heft of a symphony orchestra.
"It's not symphonic," Gillan says. "It's more like the Count Basie Orchestra, it's like a big band. People get confused with orchestras. They think it's symphonic, but it's not."
