Former Alice In Chains Bassist MikeStarr is Dead

Founding member and former bass player in Alice In Chains, Mike Starr is dead. Ha was 44 years old.

Friends and fans of Mike Starr have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts and condolences - the former Alice In Chains bassist died at the age of 44 in his Salt Lake City, Utah home earlier yesterday afternoon (March 8th) at 1:42 PM. Some tweets are as follows:

Slash: "Really tragic news about Mike Starr. RIP."

Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx: "RIP Mike Starr. Another fallen Soldier to addiction... :("

Former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler: "R.I.P. Mike Starr!! Such a sad day! :( :("

Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum: "Drugs and alcohol aren't a joke. Please take care of yourself and respect yourself. We lost Mike Starr today. Rest in Peace man."

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, police do not suspect foul play in the death of Starr.

The medical examiner's office will likely conduct an autopsy on Wednesday, says Reuters, but the results of toxicology tests could take up to two months.
