“It
probably won’t be out until early in 2013,” frontman Biff Byford
told Classic
Rock.
“We are effectively producing ourselves. But it will be mixed by
Andy Sneap (Accept).”
The
band release the CD/DVD set "Saxon
– Heavy Metal Thunder: Live Eagles Over Wacken" on
April 23. This features highlights from the band’s performances at
the Wacken Festival in 2004, 2007 and 2009, plus a live CD recorded
in Glasgow last year.
This
also comes in a deluxe Golden Ticket Direct To Consumer box set,
which has the full performances at the three Wacken shows, each on a
separate DVD. There will be 10 golden tickets randomly included in
these box sets, which will allow the winners to see the band live in
any city they choose (excluding festival appearances).
Saxon
will be supporting Judas Priest at Hammersmith Apollo on May 26 and
will be playing on the main stage at the Download Festival on June 9.
Says
Biff: “We’ve got quite a lot of festivals lined up for the summer
as well in Europe. We might record one or two of these, and we could
again film out set at Wacken, which is on August 2.”
