Van Halen: Cancel European Tour Before It Was Announced (?)

Melodicrock reports that VH have cancelled their planned 2012 Summer Tour of Europe - before the dates were even announced.

But because planning was so far along for the tour, the dates and venues were already locked in. No reason has reportedly been given to promoters for the cancellation - simply that the schedule was not going to go ahead, as planned.

The alleged cancelled dates were:

Van Halen
2012 European Tour

May 28 – Paris, FR - Zenith
May 30 – Zurich, SW - Hallenstadion
June 01 – Barcelona, SP - Pala Jordi
June 03 – Milano, IT -Arena Fiera
June 05 – Dortmund, DE - Westfalenhalle
June 07 – Sweden Rock - Solvesborg
June 10 – Download Festival – Donington, UK
June 13 – Stuttgart, DE - Schleyerhalle
June 15 – Hellfest – Clisson, France
June 17 – Fields Of Rock Festival - Holland
June 19 – Berlin, DE - O2 Arena
June 21 – Prague
June 23 – Graspop Metal Meeting - Belgium

Rather than speculate on what this report means, in the big picture, we’ll await a response and official confirmation on this news from someone in the VH camp.

In the aftermath of the original story’s posting, Andrew from Melodicrock commented online, “The tour was originally planned to start Sept in Oz, then in USA November, kick off again in Feb 2012. Hit Europe for the festivals (May/June) and then return to USA for second leg.”

Stay tuned.
