KISS' 1989 album «Hot In The Shade», is the first part of a four-CD reissue series by Universal Japan featuring remastering for the first time in a high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD players). The album, which went gold in the US and platinum in Canada, featured KISS' highest charting Billboard Hot 100 single since 1976' «Beth» called «Forever». The album also featured «Hide Your Heart» and «Rise To It».

KISS' lineup featured:

Paul Stanley – rhythm guitar, vocals

Gene Simmons – bass guitar, vocals
Bruce Kulick – lead guitar, backing vocals
Eric Carr – drums, percussion, vocals

«Hot In The Shade» will be available on January 18th, 2012. The other thee albums in the Universal Japan reissue series include «Animalize» (1984), «Asylum» (1985) and «Crazy Nights» (1987).

KISS' 15th studio album was released on October 17, 1989. The album, recorded at the Fortress in Los Angeles, was produced by both Paulth Stanley and Gene Simmons.HITS saw Kiss returning and digging back into their rock roots, rather than an end-of-80's sounding, forging forward with a 15 song package with listening almost an hour. The longest KISS record to date.

We also saw the lead singing debut of Eric Carr on his song, "Little Caesar" which was a nick name given to Eric by Gene.

It was the last album to feature Eric Carr, who died in 1991.
