The
pre-eminent emperors of space rock return for what’s become their
annual pre-X-mas UK tour. They play the following December shows:
Wed.
7: Sheffield Plug
Thu.
8: Birmingham HMV Institute
Fri.
9: Manchester Academy
Sat.
10: London Shepherd’s Bush Empire
So,
what can we expect from the band this time. Says band leader Dave
Brock:
“We
try to cover tracks from all the different eras of our 42-year
history. We will also be performing songs from the forthcoming album,
due for release in spring 2012.”
Apart
from guitarist/vocalist Brock, the rest of the line-up is Niall Hone
(guitar), Mr. Dibs (bass), Tim Blake (keyboards) and Richard Chadwick
(drums).
These
gigs bring to an end what’s been a busy year for Hawkwind.
“We
played in Australia at the beginning of the year, then a few major
festivals in Europe. Then we settled down in the studio to finish
recording the new studio album, and a very special project which we
can’t talk about yet.”
And
2012 is gonna be equally as hectic.
“We
will be touring UK and Europe in the spring to coincide with the
album release. We also have a side project, Stella Variations, coming
out and a Dave Brock solo album called Looking
For Love In The Lost Land Of Dreams.
Support
on this tour comes from the Lloyd Langton Group, featuring one time
Hawkwind guitarist Huw Lloyd Langton.
