Hey Aerosmith fans!
You might be grabbing a giant tub of popcorn, a 32 oz. Dr. Pepper and
a front row seat at your local multiplex sometime soon! Why? Because
frontman Steven Tyler revealed
that a biopic is likely in his future.
The
rocker told Women’s
Wear Daily –
yes, we know, it’s a fashion trade publication but Tyler is
promoting his gig as the spokesmen for the Andrew
Charles rock-inspired clothing line so
that’s why he’s chatting with this particular media outlet- that
his best selling memoir ‘Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?’
might be translated to the silver screen sooner than later.
Tyler
said, in his typical quippy fashion, that “it’s either as soon as
the plane goes down, or in my lifetime. I’m thinking since Ron
Howard bought my book, his production company is thinking about doing
something.”
Tyler
also referred to the book as “collected thoughts” and that it’s
“all this s— I’ve been thinking about for 40 years. This whole
thing with Aerosmith has been like a dream come true. It’s like
it’s been plotted out and planned and written about before. Every
time something happens, I think, ‘Is this a movie?’”
Well,
it’s true that the book’s source material, which is Tyler’s
life, shares the blueprint with many similar musical sagas filled
with sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and more sex, drugs and rock ‘n’
roll. But Tyler is larger than life and has terrific fashion sense,
and those elements could be explored. Also, despite his rampant drug
abuse, which he detailed in the book, saying, “I blew 20 million. I
snorted my Porsche, I snorted my plane, I snorted my house in that
din of drugs and booze and being lost,’ he has crossed over into
mainstream success as an ‘American Idol’ judge. It doesn’t get
bigger than that.
We’re
not directors nor are we cinematographers, but we are opinionated. If
this potential biopic is placed in the proper hands, it could become
a strange, trippy and non-linear project.
