KISS: "Hell Or Hallelujah" Single Artwork Unveiled; Sample Available

The artwork for the new KISS single, "Hell Or Hallelujah", can be seen right here. The track, which is expected to be released next week, was previously described by Paul Stanley as "uptempo" and "very definitive." Hear a sample of the song on Amazon.

"Hell Or Hallelujah" comes off KISS' new album, "Monster", which is scheduled for a fall release. The CD was again produced by the Stanley and is, in Gene Simmons' hunble words, "either the best or one of the top three records we've ever done. It's like 'Revenge' meets'Destroyer' - just guitar and drums, nothing else. No keyboards, no little boys' choir, no strings, no nothing. Band-written; literally we'd get in and strum guitars like the old days."

The album "was written very fast," according to Simmons and includes one track, "Are You Ready?", that he describes as, "an old song that was torn apart and re-written."

Aerosmith are back in the saddle and keep the rocks alive. Below you can watch the encore from the Cleveland show:

Iron Maiden: No Plans For New Studio Album According To Adrian Smith; New Interview Posted Online

Giorgio Mustica of The Aquarian Weekly recently conducted an interview with guitarist Adrian Smith of British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

The Aquarian Weekly: Some of the songs you're planning on playing on your upcoming tour include "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son", "Can I Play With Madness", "Aces High", etc. What was the reason behind choosing a setlist like that of the famous 1988 excursion, 7th Tour Of A 7th Tour?

Adrian: Well, we just thought it'd be fun to revisit that period in time - there were some good songs there. It's just great revisiting some of the songs we haven't played for a long while. It keeps us fresh and it's just, you know, we got a lot of new fans coming on board now, a lot of younger fans who probably never saw or were around when we did that tour. That's one factor of it for us revisiting that time and I think there's some good songs from that period, so it's fun to do.

The Aquarian Weekly: Iron Maiden has been together for more than 35 years and yet "The Final Frontier" hit the No. 1 spot in almost 30 countries. What are your thoughts about this and how does it feel to still be on top of the game?

Adrian: Well, I think that we've always toured our music and brought our music to people - we've never relied on media and radio play. I think in that way, we've built up a really strong following. And like I said, we've got new fans on board that are rediscovering all the old stuff as well, so I mean, I don't know if there's any secret, I just think the band does it for the right reasons and we're in it because we love the music and I think people get that and they come along for the ride, so that's great.

The Aquarian Weekly: I saw a little while back that Nicko said that he wasn't sure when there will be a new album. Is the band working on anything new at the moment or are you just focusing on touring right now?

Adrian: No, we're just focusing on this tour. We tend to put all our energy in what we're doing at the time. We don't really get together and rehearse songs or anything on the road. We tend to take a bit of time off it and see. Maybe next year. We haven't got any plans at the moment, but more than likely we'll be doing something.

The Aquarian Weekly: How do you think the upcoming U.S. tour is going to differ from in years past?

Adrian: Well, this is a new set; we haven't taken the stage set out, for example, so it's a new stage set. We got new effects. I think it's going to be actually more spectacular than the original tour and probably, technically, you got more stuff now to put into a live show in terms of lighting and that, which will make it quite spectacular, so I think this is going to be pretty special, this tour. What with the songs, we love playing these songs, and with the stage set and effects and of course we got Eddie, he's back, so it should be fun.

Iron Maiden: `Maiden England World Tour` Rehearsals Footage

A new three-minute video clip featuring footage from Iron Maiden's rehearsal sessions for the "Maiden England World Tour" can be seen below.

"Maiden England" marks the third chapter in the history of Iron Maiden , a journey which began in 2004 with "The Early Days" DVD and subsequent 2005 "Early Days Tour". Part two followed in 2008 with the"Live After Death" DVD - the seminal 1984 concert recorded at Long Beach Arena in California during the "World Slavery Tour" - and the band embarking on their groundbreaking "Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/9", which saw them play to over two million fans in almost 40 countries.

Comments vocalist Bruce Dickinson: "We have great fun playing the history of Maiden tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It's always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original'Seventh Son Tour' revisited — with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of 'Maiden England', including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can't wait to get started in Charlotte."

There are no plans for a new studio album yet, according to Adrian Smith. New interview available.

KISS: Gene Simmons Talks "Monster" Album And Book, KISSology 4, "Destroyer" Reissue In New Interview

Matt Wardlaw of Ultimate Classic Rock recently conducted an interview with Gene Simmons - and talked about all things "Monster", "Destroyer" reissue and other stuff, Read excerpts below:
You definitely have a lot of things going on and one of those things is a new KISS album. How would you describe ‘Monster’ from your perspective and when can we expect to hear the album?
Paul produced it, because he’s got a clear mind and time to think in those terms. I don’t have the ability and the attention span anymore to do that. We’ve both produced outside the band and both [have] produced KISS albums before, but this was the right decision. [The material is] all band-written. We sat together in the same room for the first time in decades and came up with some pretty classic stuff. It could be one of our top two or three records ever.
It’s going to be the year of the ‘Monster’ when the album comes out. You’ll hear everybody in the band singing lead. Everybody co-wrote the songs – that includes Eric [Singer], our drummer. It really is a band record. My favorite records are band records where nobody is trying to take over and push their weight around.
There’s also going to be a 10-hour DVD called ‘Monster’ coming out, which is going to be ‘Kissology’ number four, the fourth one in our series. The first three sold 20-times platinum – they’re monsters. There’s going to be a four-foot book – literally – called ‘Monster.’ It’s so heavy that it has its own legs, because you physically cannot pick it up. It weighs, get ready for this, 45 pounds.
(...)
Is there a release date attached to the record yet?
We’re pushing the record back, because we start the American tour with Mötley Crüe joining us. We’ll do about 40 shows and then ‘Monster’ will come out and then the DVD and the books and all of that. [The record] will hopefully [come out] in probably September or October.
(...)
What’s the latest word on the deluxe ‘Destroyer’ reissue ?

That is also coming out shortly, this summer, remixed by Bob Ezrin with some outtakes and some stuff. Because it was a very pivotal record for us. Bob Ezrin came along and basically decided, “Okay, we’re going back to our roots.” We’re going to learn how to tune our guitars and talk about song structure. Because when we first started out, you know, we basically dove into the deep end of the pool and [said], “Let’s see if we can swim?”
And then once you stay in the water long enough, you want to start to get some style and do the breaststroke and the backstroke and all of that stuff, because you become a better swimmer. It’s not just enough to not sink. So the sink-or-swim thing became, “Hey, let’s be really good swimmers.”

What sort of stuff will be part of this new deluxe edition? There’s the remix…

There are remixes of the entire album – there’s some different elements that are going to be featured. So you’ll hear the DNA of what it’s all about [with] a big booklet that shows the making of [the album] and what everybody was going through.
Because there was a lot of turmoil in the band at that point. That was the first record where the future troubles with Ace and Peter surfaced. Peter started screaming at Bob Ezrin, “Don’t tell me how to play drums,” and Ezrin kind of going, “Well, first you have to learn how to play drums then you can say don’t tell me how to play drums. You’re playing it wrong, here’s what you gotta be doing right.”
So they were butting heads all of the time. Ace literally wouldn’t show up because he’d be in a drunken stupor at his home. It got so bad we literally used outside players to play solos.

Aerosmith Rocks Minneapolis On Global Warming Tour Kick Off; Videos Available; Backstage Footage Posted

Aerosmith kicked off their Global Warming tour at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Saturday June 16. They performed two songs from "Music From Another Dimension"; "Legendary Child" and "Oh Yeah" (lower video).

According to Twin Cities the show kicked ass: "While it's doubtful Aerosmith will recapture the attention of pop radio with their impending new album `Music from Another Dimension,` Saturday night's raucous, entertaining show proved the guys still have some fire left in them. Maybe writing and recording the fresh tunes gave the guys a boost, or perhaps it was Tyler's two seasons of time spent watching other people sing on "Idol." Whatever the case, Aerosmith felt both comfortable and revitalized back in front of a screaming crowd of fans."

Setlist:
Draw the Line
Love in an Elevator
Oh Yeah (NEW SONG)
Walkin' the Dog
Livin' on the Edge
Cryin'
Rag Doll

Combination
What It Takes
Legendary Child (NEW SONG)
I Don't Want To Miss a Thing

Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric will be performing to their KISS Army of fans at the celebrated London venue for one night only as a fundraiser for the Help for Heroes charity. The band has always supported the US troops at their gigs over the years but this year, on Independence Day, the US rockers will be backing British wounded, sick and injured servicemen and women by raising money with this unique concert. All proceeds from the concert will go to the charity.

Ahead of the new KISS album "Monster" (due out in the Autumn), the band will also be releasing a single on 2nd July. Also, KISS are happy to announce that they will further be raising funds for our wounded, sick and injured troops as all proceeds from the single will be donated to Help for Heroes.

Paul Stanley states "The greatest national treasure of any free country is the army that defends it at all cost. We pay tribute to those brave men and women and urge everyone to show their thanks with donations."

Van Halen To Tour Japan In November

Bruce Henne at Hennemusic has posted the following update on Van Halen:

“We’re gonna take a break because this tour is gonna take us about two years,” added Roth.
The singer’s message is now being echoed by Eddie Van Halen, who spoke with USA Today last week about the tour during an interview session with son and bassist, Wolfgang, in San Francisco last week.

"We bit off more than we could chew," explained Eddie. "This record took a lot out of us. And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden (in March, before a renovation), and that threw the schedule out of whack."

Aerosmith: "A Year Ago, Nobody Wanted To Do An Album," Says Steven Tyler

Edna Gunderson at USA Today recently caught up with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. Read excerpts below:

"A year ago, nobody wanted to do an album," says Tyler, 64. "Now we're all on the same page and we've been burning the candle at both ends. It all comes together when the band gets on stage. It's nothing but beautiful and all the crap melts away. That's when the band is a band, no matter what else is going on."

While tempers have cooled, sparring "is business as usual," says Perry, 61. "We don't agree on everything. But the machine is bigger than the parts. We all know that. We sorted out what we had to sort out.

"Some personal things got overblown and a few things got misconstrued. We've been working together on the record for the last four months. Hey, if we didn't have disagreements, something would be wrong and the record wouldn't be what it is."
So what is it? Dimension, a true team effort "hammered out with everyone in the room," recalls 1976's landmark `Rocks`, Perry says.

Black Country Communion To Start Recording Of New Studio Album

The members of Black Country Communion will gather this coming Sunday, June 10 to begin work on their third album. Hughes states on Twitter, "I'm excited to play my songs to the guys and hear what the lads have been workin' on."

"With this next album, I've had the luxury of being able to write for six months," Hughes recently told GuitarWorld.com. "With the first album I had six weeks, and the second one was about four months. But I've had a lot more time to write this one. If you look at Joe's schedule, he doesn't even have time to wipe his nose. I've been left as the keeper of the keys to write these albums."

In a recent interview with Artisan News, Hughes stated about  Black Country Communion 's musical evolution, "We just did two albums back to back, both successful records. And our live DVD is out now.

"We're really, really happy with the progress of where we're going musically. So we're sort of on course now."

Regarding the sound of the forthcoming  Black Country Communion CD, Hughes said, "It's kind of a continuation… There's gonna be some darker stuff on there, because the lyrics I'm writing are kind of dark. There may be some moments of drama in there - I like drama in the music. So the songs I have ready are definitely a continuation of [the first and the second albums]."

Black Sabbath Honoured At The Kerrang! Awards 2012; Video Posted

Black Sabbath were named the most inspirational band in rock on Thursday, June 7, at The Kerrang! Awards 2012 Fuelled By Relentless Energy Drink.

The reformed band - consisting of vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bass player Geezer Butler - picked up the Inspiration Award at Kerrang! magazine's annual awards show at The Brewery in Barbican, London.

A short video interview with Osbourne, Iommi and Butler conducted by Kerrang! right after tonight's awards show can be seen below.

Tony Iommi has revealed that he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer during the recording sessions for the band's new album.

Iommi, who was diagnosed with lymphoma late last year, told Kerrang! magazine, "It was good for me to do that. I did feel tired and sick - and it does make you sick, you start throwing up. But on the days when I felt I could do it, we were all there working."

Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler added, "[Tony] was going to the hospital one day, and we'd go into the studio the next depending on how the chemo was affecting him."
