KISS Attorney Raymond E. Scott: "I Actually Had Somebody Sit In For Peter Criss, And Wear The Same Makeup And Nobody Knew"; Video Report Online

WBIR.com's Abby Ham reports:

Up in Tellico Village lives an attorney, but not just any attorney. This one has an interesting resume that rivals many hot shot Hollywood lawyers. Many know the music and style of the band KISS. Most importantly you know their faces. Raymond E. Scott is more familiar with those faces than most. After all, he did trademark them.

"No one had ever registered the face of an entertainer before. As a matter of fact, the trademark office said you can't do that," said Scott.

However, the trademark office went through with it after Scott's argument. He is an attorney, after all.

"I actually had somebody sit in for Peter Criss, the drummer, and wear the same make-up and nobody knew," explained Scott.

It wasn't just the famous KISS make-up. Scott helped Gene Simmons and his bandmates make millions of dollars starting with their first album.

KISS: Eric Singer Talks "Monster" In New Interview

Mitch Lafon from BraveWords.com caught up with KISS drummer Eric Singer in the fifth and final installment of their series of interviews focusing on the 20th anniversary of the brilliant KISS "Revenge" album.

Here`s  an excerpt about the upcoming KISS new album "Monster".

How was it working on the new KISS album, "Monster"?

Singer: “When we first started working, Paul wanted to get all together and flush ideas out. He wanted it to be fresh with no old riffs that somebody had worked on a previous record (that you’re just trying to re-write). Gene will write 30 or 40 ideas just to come up with four songs for the record. That’s the way he works. Gene, Tommy and I went into a demo studio a couple of times to put some ideas down and I told Gene, ‘I think you have another solo record here.’ I told him that when we have a break, we should go in and put some of these other ideas down. He’s got a couple of songs that are in the style of ‘World Without Heroes.’ They’re really good. When, Gene writes in that style it kind of reminds me of a George Harrison kind of a thing, but Paul didn’t want any slower, mellower, ballad type songs on the record. He wanted everything rock n’ roll. Understandably, he had a point of view on the style and direction of the record. So, that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to stick to that point of view. No outside writers. No old material. All new material written by the band now. Nobody, but the band plays on the record. Nobody, but the band sings on the record. Nothing and that’s what it is.” More

ZZ Top: "Texicali" EP Out On June 4; Gang of Outlaws Footage Posted

ZZ Top fans will get a generous preview of the band's forthcoming album next week, when the group releases "Texicali", a four-song digital collection, on 5 June.
The four tracks that comprise "Texicali", like the forthcoming album (to be issued via American Recordings in late summer or early fall), were produced by Rick Rubin and Billy F Gibbons and include "I Gotsta Get Paid", "Chartreuse", "Over You" and "Consumption". These songs are the first new studio recordings from "That Little Ol' Band From Texas" in nine years.
A couple of weeks ago, listeners were able to sample "I Gotsa Get Paid" in a campaign for the Jeremiah Weed line of malt beverages that has generated tremendous on-line buzz for the video that depicts Billy, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard performing - to the delight and amazement of the patrons of a convenience store - in a walk-in cooler.
"Based on the visibility of the `Gotsta Get Paid' song, we decided to make available more of a taste of the album than just the one song," said American's Rubin. "That's the beauty of the new digital landscape; we can put out what we want when we want, in the best service of the artist."
Notes Gibbons, "We were itching to get some new music out before the full album release. Making available these four tracks seems like a good way to accomplish that most expeditiously. Dusty, Frank and I are happy with what's been accomplished in the studio, so we figured we'd provide some hot and tasty 'hors d'oeuvres' before the main course is served this fall."
Fans who purchase "Texicali" will benefit from a pro-rated discount on the purchase of the full album when it is released. All four tracks will be previewed through an audio stream at Rollingstone.com for one day only, Monday 4 June.

Chickenfoot: All Access Video Interview; Rocklahoma

Sammy Hagar has nothing but love for Joe Satriani. In a new interview, the Chickenfoot lead singer praises his guitarist’s ability to write great music.

Speaking to HDNet Concerts in advance of their performance at Rocklahoma tonight (May 27), Hagar says that their songwriting process is sort of the opposite way that Elton John  and Bernie Taupin have written so many classic songs over the years.

“Elton waits for Bernie to write great lyrics and he just hands them to him with no musical thing in mind,” Hagar said. “And then Elton writes these fantastic songs. For me, as a lyricist, when I hear Joe’s music, it speaks to me. [He's] the well.”
The feeling is mutual, according to Satriani. The guitarist credits his respect for his bandmates as pushing him to write the best music he can.
“I’m inspired by the thought of recording with these guys,” Satriani modestly countered. “And it’s important that it goes beyond just being a professional musician, at least for me. I have to be really inspired and excited that I’m going to write something and Sammy and Mike and Chad are going to really love it, and they’re gonna add something to it. They’re gonna take it to the next step.”

Uriah Heep: New Video Interview With Mick Box, Phil Lanzon Available

Metal-Trails.com conducted an interview with Mick Box and Phil Lanzon of progressive rockers Uriah Heep before the band's April 20 concert at Fabrik in Hamburg, Germany with Nazareth. You can now watch the 12 minute chat below.

Uriah Heep will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of its classic fourth album, "Demons And Wizards" by performing the LP in its entity at select U.S. shows this fall.

"Demons And Wizards" is regarded by many fans and critics alike as Uriah Heep's best album, often ranked against the preceding "Look At Yourself". Even Rolling Stone magazine, which printed an infamously negative review of the band's debut album, ran a positive assessment of "Demons And Wizards". The songs "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin'" were released as singles in the United Kingdom and North America, as well as many other markets. "Easy Livin'" entered the U.S. Top 40 at #39, making it Heep's first and only American hit. "Easy Livin'" was also a mega hit in the Netherlands and Germany, countries which were becoming a strong market for the band. The album itself was certified gold in the U.S. on October 27, 1972.

Uriah Heep will perform the entire "Demons And Wizards" album on selected dates.

Rush: 10/10 Review of "Clockwork Angels" By Martin Popoff/BraveWords Posted

Martin Popoff, Editor in Chief of BraveWords.com has reviewed Rush`s new album "Clockwork Angels". Read excerpts of the sparkling 10/10 review below:

"Hard to believe, but this is the first full concept album for the Willy Wonkas of prog metal, Clockwork Angels being a complicated, oblique, angled tale involving less steampunk than rumour had it and much more about the march of time, all wrapped up in the meaninglessness for the non-believer, except for some sort of inner temple-building, or a garden as it were, Candide-style. If Vapor Trails was in the spirit (but not the sound) of red, yellow and blue Crimson (frantic, textured, high on the shelf), Clockwork Angels is in the glorious yet dour (an apt result of ascribing to Neil’s belief system) spirit of Wetton-era Crimson mixed with Van Der Graaf Generator, with all the Victorian weight lead-lined in a box of the two institutions. And therein lies one of a few steampunk nods, as there’s no one more “watchmaker” than Peter Hammill.

A singular Rush triumph results, and yes, before we even get to the music, there really is so much to ponder here, as there’s lyrics, light narration, visuals, and then an exo-story by Kevin J. Anderson. And like the best concept albums, the lyrics alone are mostly abstraction, with further abstraction caused by demarcation into their necessary chapters, welcome, so that these hugely ambitious and exclusively dark songs can stand on their own as Rush songs, soon to be mouthed by crowds in the wrongness for this of hockey barns."
